Stress Reducers to Enhance Fertility

May 4, 2008

While trying to conceive, many couples lose the spontaneity in their sex lives and become stressed.  Rather than enjoying their intimacy, which is an important part of their lives and their goal, they begin to see intimacy as a chore.  Worse, yet, they may begin to see intimacy as something that is full of stress and that lacks results or promise.

There are a number of ways to reduce stress during this time and to find natural fertility methods that can help you both emotionally and physically.  If nothing else, these ideas will help to tone your body, to reduce your stress, and to bring you closer as a couple.  In the best case scenario - they might help you to conceive.

Pilates

Pilates - Pilates is an exercise that uses small body movements to tone and strengthen core areas of the body.  It improves muscle tone and strength, spinal and pelvic alignment, and strong core muscles.  At the same time, it helps to relax you and to reduce stress.  By reducing stress, Pilates helps to restore the body's hormonal balance, which can naturally help with infertility.  Similarly, while exercising, your body releases endorphins which produce a healthy response to both pain and stress and help with sleep regulation.  Doing Pilates together is a great way for a couple to bond and to break down the stress that they are feeling while trying to conceive.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi - An ancient form of Chinese martial art, Tai Chi is a great form of exercise that helps to tone the body and to reduce stress.  One of the main goals is to increase energy flow through the body.  Tai Chi includes a low impact exercise program with positions that help with deep breathing, concentration, and relaxation.  This exercise method offers many benefits to those trying to get pregnant.  It increases the muscle tone in the body, aids in circulation and reduces stress.  Getting your mind off of your attempts to get pregnant, and focusing on something that helps your body can certainly be beneficial in the long run.  Again, this is a great activity to do either alone or with your partner.

Flower Remedies

Flower Remedies - Similar to aromatherapy, flower remedies are flower essences that contain certain beneficial properties for the body.  Most of these essences are made to reduce stress and anxiety and to relax the person who uses them.  They are usually taken as drops that are placed on the tongue or as drops that are put into water.  The flower remedies that are known to be the most helpful for fertility include She Oak, Noni, White Chestnut, Vervain, Wisteria, Aspen and White Chestnut. Most of these have similar properties, in that they reduce anxiety and stress and aid in relaxation and restoring a natural balance to your hormones.

Reiki Therapy

Reiki Therapy - This is a natural therapy that helps to promote overall wellbeing and relaxation.  It is an ancient Japanese healing method that tries to channel positive energy into the recipient's body.  Reiki has been known to reduce stress levels, to improve the immune system, to reduce anxiety and to increase energy.  It can help a woman to become more calm and to remove the stress of trying to conceive from her body and her mind.

All of these ideas to induce fertility naturally can aid the couple in many ways.  They can help to relieve stress, to tone the body, and to create a bond between the couple.  These factors, alone, can help to stimulate and increase fertility and can lead to great results!
